Canines with a Cause provides assistance dogs from our program for children and adults in the Ottawa-Carleton area for a number of disabilities other than blindness. Including those affected with mobility related disabilities, hearing problems, seizure disorders.

These dogs are trained to do specific tasks.

• Mobility assistance dogs are trained to pick up items that accidental fall such as keys, wallet, coins; press automatic access buttons, elevator buttons, open/close doors, light switches, assist with laundry work, retrieve the phone etc More info.

• Hearing alert dogs are trained to alert the person when the fire alarm goes on, when someone's at the door, when the phone rings, when the morning alarm goes on, etc.

• Seizure response dogs are trained to press an alarm system in the household to alert other family members of the seizure, to stabilize the person during the seizure, to bring medications, etc.

• Multiple skills dogs are trained to assist in a combination of the above skills and/or other.
